“Organizing & maximizing rare disease biological sample data in biobanks” training course

The training, an acticity of the EJP RD WP14.4, took place on 1-2 April in Milan, Italy.

The programme of the workshop included a mixture of lectures and practical sessions in small multi-stakeholder groups. The workshop used the problem-based learning (PBL) methodology, an interaction in problem solving which was fueled by a wide range of participants (including healthcare professionals, researchers, biobank and database managers, patient advocates):
• Participants qualified the courses highly favorably: 88% of participants would strongly recommend the workshop to their colleagues, 93% rated the courses as excellent or very good.
• According to participants, the PBL methodology was highly effective: “I find PBL to be very effective in active knowledge transfer and team work” – “The active interaction with the participants and the teachers, the teaching method used was very effective.”
