Young Investigator Workshop on Basic Science and Translational Immunology in PSC

Concept
In order to promote the engagement of young investigators into Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) research and to strengthen the collaboration between existing networks engaged in PSC research, specifically the International PSC Study Group (IP-SCSG) and the European Reference Network on Hepatological Diseases (ERN RARE-LIVER), we will host a joint workshop for young investigators on basic science and translational immunology in PSC research. The workshop will be further supported by the Clinical Research Unit 306 (CRU 306), Hamburg, and is open to members of other ERN involved in the respective topic.

Aim
The aims of this workshop are to understand the pathogenesis of PSC, foster networking between basic and clinical scientists as well as between ERNs involved in rare autoimmune and liver diseases (RARE-LIVER, Trans-plant Child and ERN RITA), and to share knowledge and pool resources between ERNs and IPSCSG.

We are planning to host up to 30 young scientists (younger than 40 years old) and ten senior scientists involved in PSC research for mentoring and state of the art presentations.

There will be presentations in the style of a forum to discuss ongoing research projects together with internationally recognized experts in basic science and immunology. The 10 senior scientists will be there to discuss, give advice, serve as mentors and give state of the art presentations during the workshop. Small breakout sessions involving the view of patients will be organised. Patient representatives will be invited to present the unmet needs and direct translational topics in plenary discussions and breakout sessions to also help disseminating knowledge and outcome through their channels.

Experts from existing international study groups will join the ERNs to create synergies between ERNs, established scientists and the emerging new generation of scientific leaders in the field.

To register please fill the application form here before March 31st.

The training workshop is free of charge. Travel and hotel expenses will be reimbursed for all selected (max 20) ERN participants. Lunch and dinner will be provided on site for all participants.

Affiliated to an ERN-Full Member or Affiliated Partner institution.

The organizer together with one member of the WP17 Scientific Evaluation Committee will select the most appropriate workshop participants based on the applicants short CV (max. 1 page) and the summary of their ongoing or planned project (max. 1 page).

All registered participants will be informed if they are selected to attend this training course before April 28.
